I’ve been looking at a subscription video security system where, if the alarm is triggered, a signal is sent to a monitoring company and they decide if they need to call the police or what have you. It’s pretty expensive if you count the full year’s subscription cost, but a friend of mine at work suggested using IP video cameras. I guess it works a little like webcams, but they’re actually full-fledged security systems that I could use myself to check in on the house while I’m at work. She didn’t know a lot about it, she said she saw it in a magazine she gets, and it's a full video security system. She’s going to try to find the article for me, but I thought I’d ask around here if anyone knows about this kind of system in the meantime. Has anybody here heard of this?

I’m looking for a video security system that I can use to monitor my swimming pool area from inside the house. My kids are 12 and 14 years old and they are old enough to use the pool unsupervised, but I’d feel better with an IP video camera out there so that that I could keep an eye on them. I don’t need a whole battery of security systems or some giant system; I just need one camera for this very specific location. Obviously it has to be weatherproof and wireless is just going to be easier to deal with for me. But are there video security systems out there that meet my needs? I would like more recommendations if someone is willing?

The video security system that I installed to monitor my pool was really useful in not only monitoring my kids, but also in catching a robbery at my neighbor’s house! The IP video cameras that I set up captured everything, and my neighbor is so grateful that I installed these security systems. Because of the equipment that I found, the thief was stopped and my neighbor was able to retrieve everything he stole. Technology is so useful and great now! Just ask my neighbor what he thinks about my video security system. I think he is getting one too.
